IT support jobs: desktop, field, and onsite roles

IT support covers desktop support, field service, and onsite technician roles: hands-on work with hardware, imaging, printers, and mobile devices at one or more sites. The BLS groups these with help desk roles as computer user support specialists, whose duties include setting up or repairing computer equipment and installing new hardware or software (BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook).

Field and onsite ads may ask for a driver’s license, travel between sites, or the ability to lift equipment. Those show up in the must-have list on each listing but don’t change its Entry Bar level, so read the full list before you apply.
